Thank you for your interest in our school. We are privileged to work at the heart of the Caversham and Emmer Green community we serve and are committed to setting the highest possible standards in everything we do. Each student at Highdown is recognised as an individual and encouraged to develop to his or her full potential. We set high standards of appearance and behaviour and we seek to provide a safe, caring and happy school in which students can flourish.

The school was established as a comprehensive school in September 1971. Currently, there are in the region of 1450 students on roll from 11 to 18 years of age including a thriving sixth form of just over 300 students.

The school became a Foundation School in September 2007.

We continue to place great emphasis on the value to students’ learning of the innovative uses of information and communication technology (ICT).

The school has developed an international reputation and government recognition for outstanding practice in this vitally important area. We are particularly proud that our contribution to the development of ICT in education has been acknowledged by Bill Gates, President of Microsoft, in his book ‘Business @ the Speed of Thought’.
