It will come as a surprise to many but there is a network of mining tunnels under Emmer Green. We bring you this revelation after it was recently reported on 'get reading' and we thank them for bringing it to our attention.
Keith Durbidge was a spitfire reconnaissance pilot turned flight instructor. Born in Caversham, Keith went on to teach at Reading Blue Coat School before entering university and joining the Air Training Squadron.
We think this picture of Jennings Butchers was taken around 1900 in Prospect Street (in the vicinity of where WordPlay is today).
