The Caversham Picture Framer shop in Church Road, Caversham, is now open again after a major refurbishment.  In a former existance in the 1930's the shop was a fishmongers, and many of the old tiles still remain. It was a great and pleasant surprise that the tiling under the old panellng was in much better condition than had been expected. The shop has been sensitively restored so that a wall of the old tiles is now visible and shows how the shop would have looked historically.

Alexander Foster, the new owner of the business, is an experienced picture framer and holds a BA and MA in History of Art from UCL and SOAS.  He trained with a very old establised quality picture framing company in the Midlands, then worked as a framer in London for some years, before moving to the Reading area to take over the picture framing business in Church Road.   He is offering high quality picture framing services, including hand finished and hand painted frames, gilding, and frame restoration, not available elsewhere locally.

A new venture of particular interest to all those interested interested in interior design, will be the production and sale of a range of bespoke and designer mirrors in handcrafted frames in all sizes, styles, and colours to suit the most demanding applications. There will always be a number of unique mirrors based on antique frames that Alex has restored to their former glories available to generate that truly individual look and feel.

Please come in and check on the progress as they are made and visit in October to see the first mirror ranges launched.
